Remembering the way we do not remember

The Filipinos have carved a niche for themselves when they rose above all adversity and in a peaceful revolt, which was admired throughout the world, declared in one voice that they would no longer put up with the abusive regime of the dictator Ferdinand Marcos.

That was 1986.

Many years have passed since. Four presidents and 2 more EDSA uprisings have passed and yet we still haven’t learned our lesson. We keep on clinging to that moment of lost glory.

Our government is still ridden with graft and corruption.

A fitting example: projects such as bridges, roads, flyovers and the like are all screaming with the names of these government officials wanting to take credit. These self righteous officials, who publicly espouse that we should strive for moral renewal and that we should put aside our individual interests for the nation’s good, are nothing but wolves in sheep’s clothing. Just a hint of taking away their “pork barrel” and they’d no sooner show their true colors. Just a question. Was that your personal money that you spent on that project that we should feel compelled to express our gratitude for those?

Now, a question that has been bugging me: Can we see those same proclaiming notices in other countries such as the US? Honestly, I wouldn’t know. So you tell me.

For now, my question will be, when will we ever learn?

Kicking off!

Hello world indeed! :)

At last! This site is already up and running. Many thanks to Charles for facilitating the process of getting a domain and getting this blog up. Many thanks too to Ace and Kerslyn for the help in uploading the themes for this site, as well as the steady support and free tutorial they give out to blogging noobies like me. We will be forever grateful.

Actually, this is already the second blog that Borski and I have, the first one being Daily Happy Thoughts. We started this blog thing with the hope of having our own space on the world wide web where we can post our thoughts on anything and everything under the sun. Yup, it has been a fun ride so far, with the many twists and tumbles that life has thrown our way. Aside from this blog being an avenue for expression, we have recently discovered how to make money through blogging, which has been a blast!

Do hang on and brace yourself for one helluva ride! :)
